VeVe is a leading platform for digital collectibles and comics, offering a unique marketplace for fans to buy, sell, and trade limited-edition NFTs featuring iconic brands like Disney, Marvel, and DC. Users can display their collections in customizable virtual showrooms and even interact with them in the real world through augmented reality features. This project focused on extending the VeVe experience to desktop devices, adapting the existing mobile design to a larger screen format while simultaneously laying the groundwork for future feature development.
My Role
Tasked with bringing the vibrant VeVe experience to desktop, I led the design effort from initial audit to final prototype. I began by immersing myself in the mobile app, conducting a comprehensive UI/UX audit to identify areas for optimization and adaptation. Using these insights, I crafted the user interface and interaction design for the desktop platform, ensuring a seamless transition for mobile users while leveraging the advantages of a larger screen. This process involved adapting existing features and laying the groundwork for future functionalities, creating a platform ready for growth.
A key deliverable was a high-fidelity interactive prototype that allowed stakeholders to experience the flow and functionality firsthand. Additionally, I developed a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficient development as VeVe continues to expand. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with a product manager on the client side to align design decisions with business goals.
Challenges
Adapting a mobile-first design to a desktop environment required a fundamental rethinking of navigation, layout, and interaction patterns. Through a rigorous UI/UX audit and iterative design process, I optimized the platform for larger screens and mouse/keyboard input, creating a more immersive and engaging experience. The project also needed to accommodate future feature expansion beyond simply replicating the mobile experience. I designed the desktop platform with flexibility in mind, laying the groundwork for new functionalities and ensuring VeVe could continue to innovate and grow its offerings. A robust design system was created to ensure scalability and maintain consistency across platforms.
The successful adaptation of VeVe to desktop has expanded the platform's reach, making it accessible to a wider audience. The new design provides a more immersive experience, optimized for larger screens. The design system has laid a solid foundation for future development, ensuring consistency and efficiency as VeVe continues to evolve and solidify its position as a leader in the NFT space.
